F1 - Schumacher's Comeback

Michael Schumacher returned to the wheel of a Formula One car on Friday when he tested a 2007 Ferrari in the first step of his comeback.

The 40-year-old, who retired at the end of 2006, drove 67 laps at the Mugello track near Florence. "It's a great thing getting back on the track with an F1 even if this was a car from 2007," he said after the session.

F1 testing is banned during the season but Schumacher was allowed to drive an old car as he undergoes a programme of preparation to make sure he is fit to race.

Michael Schumacher is due to take part in the European Grand Prix in Valencia on August 23 as a replacement for Brazilian Felipe Massa, who was seriously injured in a freak accident during qualifying for last weekend's Hungarian Grand prix in Budapest.

F1 rules says: NO IN-SEASON TESTING! Yet Ferrari They 'get by that rule' by saying it is last years car! Michael Schumacher get out there testing, and may have 'found' some changes that should be made to the 2009 car! What the Ferrari just did 'IS' mid season testing, pure and simple! Getting the greatest driver in F1 history to 'fill-in' is great, but to do that by breaking the rules is DIFFERENT! Do you think Mclaren, Brawn, ect, would be allowed to play that game, I THINK NOT! The rules SHOULD be applied to EVERYONE, and there should be NO exceptions!
